Lets talk about this.....first job, first appointment and one feels out of this world. Same thing happened to me when I got this job at L&T....to tell you in brief about L&T, this company is considered to be the best Indian engineering company.
So the new day has come and I was out of my IIT hostel walking down the long path to the main gate and wondering what new things I will do at this company. As I reached my office, I saw some curious eyes questioning my existence. With a warm welcome from the HR, the coffee was ofcourse warm, I was introduced to the head of my SBU.
Then I was sent to my cabin and I waited for the work to start but it never did. So I told myself " Easy dude, this is your first day and they dont expect you to make miracles on day one..wait....come tomorrow and do the good job...." , its been 3 months now and all I get is big talk about the company but no work.
"Everywhere its the same. Tell me the name of a single Indian company you believe do quality work" my boss asks me this question and I wonder at my ignorance.
Meanwhile the frustration is rising day by day , partly because of no work and partly that Iam no good to this place. Same is the case, I believe, is with other IITians who have joined this company in a misconception that THEY WILL MAKE THINGS THAT MAKE INDIA PROUD. Trust me, I never thougt that way...all I wanted to do was some good work.
I almost forgot, L&T has this habit of giving you shocks, rude though, they make your life a bit happening at this place which otherwise is almost gloomy without coffee. Salary, this was the biggest shock of my life, the package shown and the amoung given refuse to tally with each other and this is when HR comes into the scene. They feel proud to tell me that they are deducting money from my salary for my own welfare....and welfare of the company. At this young age, one is not aware of his good or bad, so our HR has taken this liberty of assuming that they should cut some significant amount from my monthly salary without even asking me. They believe that Iam dying to get L&T shares after 7 years for which they have started deductions from salary right now.
You can not fight the system and start adapting to this place, this is what Iam being told again and again.

i had a wron assumption about L&t...I thought its a very good indian company... Sad that the HR himself concluded to deduct ur salary...
